Taking Vaka Tautua’s operations to new heights

In 2022, Vaka Tautua has established the new role of National Manager Operations. Pania Schwenke has come on board to lead the organisation’s operational services teams, in line with the strategic direction set by our Board of Directors.

Pania joins the Vaka with 30 years’ experience working in large international operational teams for Heinz Foods, USA, and Qantas/Jetconnect. Her knowledge of how to create a high-performance culture will help her lead and inspire our teams.

Dr Amanda-Lanuola Dunlop, Chief Executive Officer of Vaka Tautua said, “Establishing the role of National Manager Operations is key to strengthening our support of Pacific communities in need. We are thrilled to have Pania join our team in such a pivotal role. Her experience and strong community connections will be invaluable in helping us enhance the services we provide to our Pacific peoples.”

Pania’s appointment is part of Vaka Tautua’s recent recruitment drive and organisational growth, in response to the ever-increasing needs of Pacific communities post-COVID. As an integral member of Vaka Tautua’s Executive Leadership team, Pania will work with our Regional Managers for Auckland, Wellington, and Canterbury to ensure optimal delivery of our services.

Pania said, “I am drawn to the vision, values and mission of Vaka Tautua – they align with mine. On my personal vaka, my leadership is all about tautua (service). It is instilled in everything I do and believe. I look forward to helping Vaka Tautua continue to make a positive impact on the lives of the Pacific peoples of Aotearoa.”
